The collaborative project between Flora Duley and Tyrone Vera, @tyroneveradesign initiated during the Residancy at Standpoint Gallery, and has evolved into Socio-Play. This innovative concept merges social play's pivotal role in child development with artistry and interactive experiences.
Tyrone's wearable fabric sculpture, designed for solo or group wear, encourages social engagement, exemplified by Ping Pong matches, fostering interpersonal connections and cooperation.
Flora's involvement in a longstanding Table Tennis community underscores the importance of social engagement, while concerns arise over the shift towards isolated training, potentially disrupting communal bonds.
In contrast to competitive sports, social art workshops uncover emotional complexities, particularly evident in parent-child dynamics, where independence conflicts with mutual reliance, challenging the essence of play and individual growth. In the realm of 'Socio-Play,' characterised by performative actions and sensory experiences, participants navigate a delicate balance between joyful interaction and the constraints of social bonds. Yet, at its peak, 'Socio-Play' fosters harmonious collaboration, transcending individual boundaries to create a unified experience.
